You may be able to sponsor your dependent children to become permanent residents or Canadian citizens if you meet the requirements. The children may either be natural born or adopted children.
Who is a Dependent Child?
Children must meet the following definition of a dependent child to be eligible for sponsorship:
A child is considered a dependent if he or she is not married or in a common-law partnership and is under 22 years of age
A child who is over 22 years of age may be considered a dependent child if he/she has a physical or mental condition that prevents them from being able to support themselves.
Sponsors
Sponsors must prove their relationship with the child being sponsored either by a birth or adoption certificate.
The Sponsor and child abroad must be approved by the government agency that oversee immigration processes.
Parents and GrandParents Sponsorship
The Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP) and Super Visa Program are two programs that offer Canadians and permanent residents the opportunity to bring their parents and grandparents to Canada.
You can sponsor your parents or grandparents and their dependents to come to Canada as a Canadian citizen or permanent resident if you meet the minimum requirements including;
Being 18 years or older
Residing in Canada
Meeting the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) requirements
Providing financial support
Agreeing to a sponsorship agreement referred to as "Undertaking" outlining your commitment to provide necessities of your family members for a period of 20 years.
Minimum Necessary Income (MNI)
MNI is used by Canadian immigration officials to assess the ability of sponsors to financially support themselves and the family members they intend to sponsor.
For example, the Parents and Grandparents Program necessitates the sponsor to have a certain level of income to support themselves and their family members.
