It's a serious crime to lie, or to send false information or documents to IRCC. This is fraud, and it's called "misrepresentation". Individuals found inadmissible due to misrepresentation may be banned for five years or not be allowed to enter Canada for five years.
Misrepresentation occurs when information or documents provided to Canadian immigration is found to be false, inaccurate, inconsistent, forged, or incomplete.
Examples include;
Obtain permanent residency by having engaged in marriage of convenience
Provide a document that is not authentic
Withholding information about a family member or failing to declare that you have been refused a visa for another country.
The applicant, a family member, or your representative can all commit misrepresentation. In all of this, the principal applicant is at fault, even if the principal applicant was unaware of the misrepresentation.
