A Canadian citizen or permanent resident may sponsor one relative related by blood or adoption of any age if she/he meet all the following conditions:
The potential sponsor does not have a living relative she/he could sponsor instead, such as
Spouse
Common-law partner
Conjugal partner
Son or daughter
Parent
Grandparent
Orphaned brother or sister
Orphaned nephew or niece
Orphaned grandchild
The potential sponsor does not have any relatives such as aunt or uncle or any of the relatives mentioned above, who is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or registered Indian.
If the relative, you plan to sponsor has a spouse, partner or dependent children who will accompany them to Canada, they must be included on the same sponsorship application.
