Economic Class

Canada attracts global talents for businesses in response to continuous labour shortages and rapid expansion of various sectors of the economy including tech, health, construction, manufacturing, Agriculture, energy and education.

The premise for selecting qualifying foreign nationals as members of the economic class is their ability to become economically established in Canada.

This allows governments at the federal and provincial level to create programs focused on selecting specific foreign nationals based on what the Canadian economy needs to address current and future skills gaps in the labour market.

Federal immigration programs managed through the Express Entry system are Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Provincial immigration programs are called Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) which target skilled workers, businesspeople and entrepreneurs who have what it takes to set up or invest in a business or trade in the province as well as contribute to the economic development of the province, and nominate them for permanent residency (PR).

In addition, the Caregiver Program allows individuals to become permanent residents in Canada if they meet all the requirements. Individuals who meet the requirements will submit their PR application through one of the federal government's programs (especially CEC) which is managed by the Express Entry system.
